All Dressed Up and Somewhere to Go

This year, I made it out to the Halloween Howl.  Thank heavens she spared me the mortification of donning a costume. I was simply a spectator, like the people standing on park benches craning their necks for a good look.  Here are some of the costumes sported by my four-legged friends:

Been There, Done That

So ever since Thunder traveled across the pond, I've been following the Times Online, and they just ran a feature called: "Behind the wheel: Seatbelts for pets." The headline is self-explanatory and the article (a fun read) goes on to talk about how your pet can become a projectile inside a car. The article refers to "Carrying Pets Safely," a new leaflet from the Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents, along with the Department for Transport, which cites that "in an emergency stop at 30mph, a 50lb border collie would be flung forwards “with a force equivalent to almost nine 12-stone men.” 

So, to this I have to say, language gap notwithstanding: "Been there, done that."  Tried out the seatbelt long ago. And if you'll permit me a shout-out to the author's Portuguese Water Dog Henry (unfortunately not pictured online), I too am a fan of sticking my nose outside the window as you can clearly see.

 

Seduced and Abandoned

Or so the opera lyric goes ("sedotto ed abbandonato"), if memory serves.  In any case, Maggie was expected back today, and I just found out that it will be another week or so until she returns.  Woe is me!

More Than Just a Hound Dog

I was surprised on my morning walk to discover that the beagle -- a hound dog vs. a working dog -- was the breed of choice for the bed bug epidemic that has seized the city.

Thankfully, I've not seen a bed bug, and I'd like to keep it that way.

Basic Instinct at Play

It's been whispered that we need to WORK for our food and water, that this is hard-wired into our DNA.  I was treated to this concept first-hand, and I'm here to report that the thrill of the hunt was in full force, and that victory was mine.

 

Culture Correspondent

I figured that the least I could do would be to support local artists. That and the parks which I frequent day and night.  I saw some interesting artwork, but if you ask me, the pieces had nothing on that cute wheaton who caught my eye.  

Good Hand Eye Coordination

How am I doing without Thunder? Well the extra attention isn't all bad. But I must confess I've had moments of boredom and therefore, they've been inventing new games to provide mental stimulation. Here I am demonstrating my coordination, with a toy courtesy of L & H that's seemingly new as I haven't seen it in two months! Mind you, I had NO interest in toys while Thunder was here, but this will have to do.

Blog Action Day 2009: Climate Change

Just doing my bit to be a model canine citizen. After all, I walk everywhere, and whenever I go by car it's a carpool solution... It's important to look out for all those future generations of puppies, so I'm adding my support to the cause.

 

The Eagle Has Landed

Breaking news: Thunder's flight has arrived safely ahead of schedule.  He is receiving "a well earned break, whilst paperwork is checked."

Gotta love the Brits. Wonder if they gave him suitable reading matter or material.

I've been a bit forlorn as you can see, waiting for this news, but now I can sleep easy (and that's American-speak, folks)
